A record grid of 21 cars will contest the opening round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch on April 8/9.
The biggest line-up in the history of the Carrera Cup GB will make a fantastic spectacle on the 1.2 mile Indy circuit and the entry will grow to as many as 23 cars at later races in the season.
With so many top quality teams and drivers taking part, the stage is set for an incredible year of motor sport action for the identical ‘Type 997’ 911 GT3 Cup cars. The opening race at Brands Hatch will be the debut British encounter for the latest track version of the much sought-after 911 GT3 sports car.
Driving the Porsche Cars GB car at Brands Hatch – in the distinctive black and white livery of Vertu, the world’s first and only manufacturer of handcrafted luxury mobile phones - will be renowned racing driver and motoring writer Mark Hales, from Bedford. Having campaigned a wide variety of cars in a long and distinguished racing career, Hales will now sample the 400bhp 911 racer for the first time.
Taking the entry up to 23 cars is the Tech 9 Motorsport team headed by Chester’s Phil Hindley. Although the team will miss the opening two weekends of the season, it will contest around half the races this year with a two-car team.
