Steer We Go! Steer We Go! Steer We Go!

SGP Motorsport & the Sun Scalextric Rally Team have scored a winner - with a special ‘Come on England’ paint job!

Impreza and EVO 9 Rally CarsOur two cars have been decked out with giant St George’s crosses to support our boys at the World Cup in Germany this summer.

And we’ve been specially allocated the car numbers 19 and 66 by the British Rally Championship to honour England’s 1966 World Cup triumph.

But it’s not just the cars that have had a World Cup makeover. Our driver line-up - Rob Gill/Anders Howard and Stephen Petch/Michael Wilkinson - have been kitted out with Three Lions rally suits.

And we’ve got a pair of strikers lined up to hand out free footballs and England World Cup supporters packs to fans.

Gill/Howard and Petch/WilkinsonThe six-round British Rally Championship kicks off with the Pirelli Rally in Carlisle on 12/13th May. Sun journalist Rob, 33, said: “Just like England, it will be important to get a result and get some points on the board.

“Kielder forest has some of the fastest gravel tracks in the world - and some of the biggest ditches. The smallest mistake will be heavily punished so we need to drive with our heads.

“I’ve got a new Subaru Impreza for 2006, the N10 version - i just hope i don’t Bend It Like Beckham!”

Young hotshot Stephen scored his best result of the season on the Pirelli last year.

The Mitsubishi Evo 9 driver said: “I love the long, fast stages. It was a special feeling to finish third in Group N behind two former British champions last year - and it would be great to repeat it.

“I’m also looking forward to making my debut at the Wales Rally GB, the final round of the BRC and the FIA World Rally Championship.”

The Sun Scalextric Rally Team is supported by SG Petch, Virgin Money, AVIT tools, Pirelli and Kumho. You can keep up to speed with their progress throughout the season right here at SGP Motorsport.

Hello Simon,

The paintwork was done here at SGP Motorsport and the rest are transfers. So essentially the cars are white, the rest are just graphics.

Yes they already said that!!

The cars are painted white and the crosses are vinyl transfers as are the sponsors. This is the norm i believe.

By the way they look awesome!!

Here’s to the weekend and good luck!!
